Cold foiling on large presses
The Foiltone system has again proved its versatility and flexibility with an installation on a 1400mm (54”) press earlier this month.
This follows the installation made a few months ago on a KBA162 (63”) in Italy.
This new installation includes a set of differential foil shafts which allow this Print company to use multiple webs and so improve their foil usage.
The process is to be used on a wide range of packaging and promotional products
Despite customs delays and summer temperatures way above those that we in the UK are used to, our installation team, with much help and enthusiastic assistance from the maintenance team on site, were able to complete the build and begin the commissioning and training process in good time.
Filmtone in-line cast and cure
This innovative technique was introduced by us over 2 years ago as an efficient and relatively inexpensive means of adding holographic effects and images to a UV varnish coat. There is no need for off-line machinery or processing, in the Foiltone tradition of “Single-pass Technology” this system is in-line and run at press speed.
The effect has been used for decorative finishing, for product branding, and also for anti-counterfeiting and security purposes.

Our next installation will be the first of our single tower, 2 shaft systems. This, as shown, is already installed on a 40” press and is due to be commissioned.
