FOILTONE INSTALS FIRST OF NEXT GENERATION OF COLD FOILING AND “CAST AND CURE” SYSTEMS.

Foiltone Ltd, the UK based supplier of in-line cold foiling systems, has now completed the installation of the first of its new generation of single unit, dual purpose machines at a print house in New York State.
This follows on from the successful Foiltone cold foiling systems that were first introduced in 2007 and are running successfully around the world
The new generation of machines are single tower, using one unwind and one rewind shaft, though differential shafts are supplied as an option for Printers wanting to run multi webs.
The new systems are lower priced, with improved software and mechanical features, and demonstrate fully the Foiltone commitment to product development and cost effectiveness.
The company ethos of supplying in-line solutions for one-pass processing as a retrofit on all sizes of Litho presses from the major manufacturers remains. This first unit has been installed on a Heidelberg 102 whilst orders are now being manufactured for a KBA 142, a Roland 700, and both 74 and 102 Heidelbergs.
Besides the application of cold foil, the units are also being fitted for cast and cure work, feeding large webs of micro etched film onto wet UV varnish then curing the vanish through the film before rewinding. The rewinding system is accurate enough to allow up to a dozen uses of the same roll of film.
This particular application is attracting great attention from Printers and Print Buyers alike. In the past this has been an off-line operation, requiring additional equipment and labour, now it is possible in-line at normal press speeds.
