Foiltone Ltd is widely recognized as the leading supplier of cold foiling systems for retrofitting to sheet-fed Litho presses of all sizes and makes. For several years these systems have been installed in print shops from the USA to Japan.

Traditional methods for adding value to the printed sheet have always required secondary operations with all of the machine investment, labour, consumable and die costs, registration and quality issues caused by multiple handling.  

The new Single Pass technologies provided by Foiltone Ltd enable many of the embellishments possible with old technology, and many more not previously possible, to be created with ease, with low capital investments, and with a single pass on the lithographic press.

Now, in keeping with the Company’s original intentions of producing in-line solutions for value-added printing, Foiltone Ltd has begun to produce and install the Filmtone system.

Filmtone brings in-line the exciting “Cast and Cure” technology that has previously only been possible off press on expensive, stand-alone equipment.

The Filmtone C2 process is performed after all the ink has been laid down. Filmtone C2 uses either a UV Duct Varnish that is applied with a standard lithographic printing plate onto the substrate, or varnish applied through a coater. The UV Varnish comes into contact with the casting film and the image of the film is pressed onto the substrate. Where the UV Varnish has been applied the image is transferred. The UV Varnish is then dried through the film, creating a holographic effect onto the printed sheet. The casting film is then rewound automatically, as it is able to re-used several times.
